Practice information
Last Updated: Wednesday, 01 July 2026We are a long-established general medical practice. In 1987 we moved to our current location from Garston Old Road. In 1995 we had an extension built on the existing premises enabling us to develop and expand our services and making the surgery easily accessible for the disabled. A few years ago we added another internal clinical room, allowing us to provide more nurse and doctor appointments, and create space for us to become a Training Practice and take Medical Students.
Doctors
The doctors practice together as a non-limited partnership, the clinical partners being Dr MD Baxter and Dr MC Widnall. We also have eight salaried GPs: Dr Bowns, Dr Howes, Dr Brookes, Dr Nancarrow, Dr Williams, Dr St John, Dr Harvey, and Dr Patel. We also employ locum doctors and Advanced Nurse Practitioners on occasion to cover for doctors who are away undertaking extra training or are on annual or maternity leave.

Nursing team
We also have a nursing team which is made up of a Practice Nurse and a healthcare assistant. Whilst we are training our healthcare assistants to become Practice Nurses we also have assistance from local practice nurses to meet our nursing needs. They are here to deal with a whole range of appointments including annual reviews of long-term health conditions, diagnostic procedures, and contraceptive care.
General Medical Services (GMS) contract
The practice team deliver a full range of clinical services under our General Medical Services (GMS) contract with NHS England.
