Appointment triage system
Last Updated: Thursday, 05 December 2024This system will ensure that those patients in most need of a same day appointment are prioritised and allocated an appointment with the most appropriate clinician.
Same day appointments
Our duty doctor will be evaluating the information given to our care navigators who will take some basic details from you and ensure that you are available to attend for a same day appointment at the time allocated.
In order to run this service efficiently, where appropriate, we will be using text messages to contact patients with the details of their appointment. For those without mobile phones, you will be contacted back by a member of staff with the details.
Following day appointments
To ensure safe practice at all times, as safety is our greatest priority, the GP may suggest that certain conditions may be more suitably dealt with the following day or a later time. You will be informed of an appropriate appointment as required.
Having listened to all of the feedback from patients over recent months, both positive and negative, we hope this new system will ensure that we are making the most efficient and effective use of our available resources.
Online consultations
If you want to avoid the phone queue you can use our online consultation system called PATCHS. This enables you to send your query to us electronically.
Using PATCHS is simple and contains extensive self-help and signposting resources. If necessary the PATCHS will be reviewed by a clinician and you may be offered an appointment on the telephone or in person if further information or examination is required.
